The dust flies and the ground trembles as the largest herd of buffalo in the country are rounded up and driven past you by cowboys on horseback. Designated viewing spots, described as “pretty darn close,” are picked out on the hill and mountainsides by the park rangers. The world’s largest hot air ballooning event. Every October hundreds of colorful balloons float above the city as dawn breaks over the Sandia Mountains. It’s a marvelous tour whether your group flies to Albuquerque, includes this in a large Southwestern Bus Tour, or travel across the west by Amtrak. This is one great time.
