It was the most important event in the History of Country Music. In 1927 in the mountains of Virginia, a talent scout for the Victor Talking Machine Co spent 8 days making the first ever musical recordings. Known as the ‘Bristol Sessions’ that event has also been called “The Big Bang of Country Music,” bring your group and see Country’s origin at the hallowed Carter Family Fold, and its glory at the Grand Ole Opry.
Wrapping itself around the mountains of SW Virginia, is a heritage trail preserving the region’s musical history, and deep back in the hills is a winding stream where people say the music began. What is true for sure, is that people here enjoyed their front porch music at the end of the day and gospel on Sunday morning. It was peaceful and harmonic, until one day, circumstances conspired to create what Johnny Cash called “The Big Bang of Country Music” – the day that music records were born.
Introducing “Under the Boardwalk” a group travel event based on The Drifter’s 1964 pop hit that rose to #4 on the charts. The song’s lyrics describe an afternoon where a young couple plan to meet “out of the sun” and out of sight, “down by the sea.” It is a melodic and romantic focus for a group tour event featuring three straight nights of Pop and Rock music near the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.
