Day 1 – Arrive New York
Arrive in New York City. Check into Theater District Hotel near Times Square for a three night stay. We will work with you to find just the right hotel to accompany your three days of sightseeing and theater.
Tonight we suggest a lively dinner at Ellen’s Stardust Diner complete with singing waiters and waitresses as an light-hearted introduction to the Theater District. Followed by a city view from the Top of the Rock, the observation deck at Rockefeller Center. While this seems like a new attraction, it is actually a renovation, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. first opened this Observation Deck during the Great Depression. Seventy Stories tall in the center of Manhattan this is a great view from a special place. (D)
Day 2: Midtown and “CATS”
The morning is filled with a Manhattan TV, Movie & Celebrity Tour. This city has been the location for thousands of TV and Movie shoots, and your guide will share stories about Celebrity sightings and what to do if you see someone. You’ll see film locations in Central Park, the homes of powerful men in the movie business (Jerry Seinfeld, Dustin Hoffman, Bruce Willis and many more). Plus locations such as the Ghostbusters Firehouse and the Friends apartment building. as you keep moving through Midtown your guide will be hunting for a shoot. Everyday there are a dozen TV and film shoots in New York – and we will try to find one for you.
Next, you will have time this afternoon for shopping or sightseeing on own.
Dinner tonight is on your own, giving your guests a chance to sample from the countless great restaurants in Manhattan. We will happily add a nice Theater District Restaurant to this tour if you want it included.
This evening you enjoy the return of the Broadway phenom “CATS.” Featuring a fantastical over-sized set, a superb score, inspired choreography and mischievous costumes. This brilliant song and dance spectacular is based on T. S. Eliot’s “Ole Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” The show is set in a larger-than-life junkyard playground and it’s alive with wonderful feline characters including Rum Tum Tigger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Skimbelshanks.
It was one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history it ran for 18 years. In 1983 it won seven Tony awards including Best Musical. The magnificent musical score composed by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, includes the poignant hit song “Memory” which has been recorded by over 150 artists from Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathis to Liberace and Barry Manilow. Day 3 – Downtown and “Phantom”
Today we start at the One World Observatory atop One World Trade Center. The tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, you will fly 102 floors to the top in less than sixty seconds. Incredible floor-to-ceiling LED technology in the elevators lets you experience a virtual time-lapse recreation of the development of New York City’s skyline. As the elevator rises you watch the New York Skyline change from the 1500s to present day.
Next you have time in Little Italy to walk the cobblestoned streets, beneath the fire escapes of the turn-of-the-century tenements. You’ll find temptations in the shops and from the aromas of Italian Cuisine. Following time for lunch here on own, the balance of this day is free time. Your group will return to Midtown where they can individually explore the museums, shop on 5th Ave or enjoy a matinee.
This evening you have an option for another dinner on own, or we will help you choose just the right restaurant for a special group meal.
Ending your tour is another Andrew Lloyd Webber Blockbuster show, the “Phantom of the Opera.” The winner of the 1988 Tony Award for Best Musical it is now Broadway’s longest running musical, in it’s 28th year. This show is the timeless story, the unforgettable score and the undeniable obsession that could never die. Join us in and beneath the Paris Opera House where the Phantom lives, where jaw dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life. (B)
Day 4 – Departure
We believe this package will sell huge. With the revival of “Cats” and the inclusion of “Phantom” your patrons will enjoy two of the greatest shows in Broadway History. It’s a Blockbuster combo that produces goosebumps when Grizabella sings “Memory. ” The Phantom’s song “Music of the Night” is so forceful it leaves you breathless. These are the Legends! In the Cats Junkyard and the Paris Opera House you will witness the greatest feats of staging and special effects ever produced for the Broadway Stage. This is an astonishing combination of shows that will leave you spell-bound. Plan early and sell well. (B)
