This cruise tour is available at many other times throughout the year, but Cinco de Mayo only happens once.
Day 1 – Tuesday, May 2 – New Orleans. Check into your New Orleans Hotel. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore the Big Easy. Enjoy jazz along Bourbon Street, or take a walking tour of the French Quarter, one of America’s oldest and most unique neighborhoods! Enjoy a Dixieland Jazz Dinner Cruise or just stroll along the Mighty Mississippi, through the French Market and Jackson Square.
Day 2 – Wednesday, May 3 – New Orleans This morning your group will visit the National World War II Museum. From the beaches of Normandy to the sands of Iwo Jima, The National WWII Museum’s exhibits are a blend of personal accounts, artifacts, documents, photographs and original film footage. The stories of the dozens of amphibious landings and the thousands of men and women who made Allied victory in World War II possible, are told through three floors of exhibit space. In addition, special exhibits draw on the Museum’s own collections, as well as relevant traveling exhibits to further illustrate and explore the war that changed the world. (You have the option here of adding the Victory Belles Matinee Buffet and their tribute to the Andrew Sisters at the National WWII Museum. This is a $40 per person cost (as available).
The afternoon is free to explore the French Quarter on your own. You may want to walk the beautiful gardens of Jackson Square, stop at Café du Monde for a beignet, or browse the many boutique shops along the quarter for souvenirs.
Tonight, enjoy a Cooking Demonstration & Dinner at the New Orleans School of Cooking. It’s entertaining classes and the Louisiana General Store are located in a renovated molasses warehouse built in the early 1800s in the Heart of the French Quarter. Fun is a primary ingredient in our kitchen! Our Creole/Cajun experts teach New Orleans specialties such as Gumbo, Jambalaya and Pralines, and season them with history, trivia and tall tales. It’s a “ga-ron-teed” good time for all. (B,D)
Day 3 – Thursday, May 4 – Cruising. After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, check out and head to the Port. At lunchtime you board the Carnival Triumph and set sail at 4:00 p.m. Cruising from the Port of New Orleans is one of America’s most memorable departure ports – enjoy the view as the Mississippi Delta floats by and you cruise into the Gulf of Mexico.
Day 3 – Friday, May 5 – Fun Day at Sea. The day is spent sailing the Caribbean waters. Discover the many amenities onboard ship, relax in the spa, or test your luck in the casino.
Day 4 – Saturday, May 6 – Cozumel, Mexico. Today, enjoy a special taste of Cozumel: Eat, Drink, Dance and enjoy a Mexican Fiesta with a live music of a Mariachi band on the North District of Cozumel’s main city, San Miguel, a popular area flourishing since the first half of the 19th century. This easy-paced tour will take you on a stroll through the streets of Cozumel, passing historic buildings on your way to one of the best food spot in the city. Start your experience at a Mexican Restaurant where the Mariachi band will take you through the rhythms of this country with colorful music that inspire to dance. Enjoy an spectacle of dancers that with the band will represent different states of Mexico.
Don’t miss the chance to participate on this Mexican Fiesta when your hosts invite you to join the dance floor to learn some Mexican steps and rhythms. During your visit to the restaurant you will enjoy a complimentary snack , Mexican lunch and a Margarita.
Day 5 – Sunday, May 6 – Day at Sea. Your last full cruise day will be yours to relax away. Enjoy the day sitting poolside or immerse yourself in one of the many daily activities that is offered today onboard the ship. Work on your golf skills at the 9 hole mini-golf course or find a deck chair and finish that book you brought along on your journey.
Day 6 – Monday, May 7 – New Orleans. The cruise ends today with a morning return to New Orleans.
