Day 1: Arrive Honolulu
On arrival in Honolulu you will be met at baggage claim with a Traditional Flower Lei Greeting then escorted to your waiting motorcoach where porters will take care of getting your luggage from the carousel to the bus. On arrival at the hotel you will be greeted by your Local Escort. Bellmen will deliver your luggage and you will be escorted to your hospitality desk for check-in. The balance of this day is free to rest from the flight or take a walk on the beach.
Day 2 – Honolulu – Pearl Harbor and City Sightseeing
After a Full American Breakfast. You will be met by a private coach for a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial. You’ll learn one of our country’s most valuable history lessons: how men and women gave their lives on that “Day of Infamy,” December 7, 1941. It was the attack at Pearl Harbor that brought America into WWII, and it was on the Battleship USS Missouri (also included in your tour) on Sept 2, 1945 that Gen Douglas MacArthur received the Japanese Surrender that ended the war. This experience will make you proud and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Your narrated driving tour of Honolulu also winds through the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Washington Place (The Governor’s Mansion), the State Capitol Building, Chinatown, past the Iolani Palace and the King Kamehamaha Statue.
Returning to your hotel this afternoon, you’ll have a free time to explore the shops on Kalakaua Avenue or take a leisurely stroll on the world’s most famous beach, Waikiki. (B)
Day 3 – Honolulu – Grand Circle Island Tour
This breathtakingly beautiful 120-mile trip around the island of Oahu visits Hawaii’s most famous landmark Diamondhead, Hanauma Bay, Halona Blowhole, Pali Lookout the Dole Pineapple Plantation, the big wave surf beaches of the North Shore and the un-paralleled South Pacific vistas on the Eastern Side of the island.
Dinner tonight is at Duke’s Waikiki. Duke Kahanamoku was known as Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha and the legend lives on at this restaurant. You enjoy Polynesian Fare in an open air, beachfront setting as the sun drops off into the blue Pacific. (B,D)
Day 4 – Kona, Hawaii – Volcanoes National Park Tour
This morning you meet your Tour Manager and transfer luggage to the bus, then the airport as you Island Hop to The Big Island, Hawaii. On arrival you begin your Volcanoes Nation Park Tour. Here you will feel a sense of awe at Mother Nature’s unrivaled power. From the molten magma flowing from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Mauna Kea; from the green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast to the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach; The Island of Hawaii serves as a testament to nature’s power.
Lunch is included on tour. But dinner is on own in Kona. (B,L)
Day 5 – Kona, Hawaii – Local Sights
You’ll begin the day with a visit to the Kona Coffee Company, where you will see the process of coffee production from seed to cup, with samplings. Next it’s onto the Hawaiian Chocolate Factory where you will visit the farm and the process of production from seed to bar. Finally, you will visit Pu’uhonua O Honaanau, the Place of Refuge. Did you know that in Ancient Hawaii if you broke the law, or Kapu, the punishment was death. But if you were able to reach this place you would find refuge.
Dinner and evening are free to explore Kona. You can stroll Ali’i Drive’s historical sites, such as Ahu’ena Heiau-which was once King Kamehameha’s place of worship, Hulihe’e Palace-used by royalty as a vacation home but now a museum with many ancient Hawaiian artifacts, and Mokuaikaua Church, which is the site of the first Christian church built in Hawaii. Day 6 – Kona, Hawaii – Hang Loose
Rise and Shine, it’s Hawaiian time! After breakfast you enjoy the opportunity to hang loose Hawaiian style. Optional activities like a Whale Watching Cruise or a Fly-Away Tour to Kuaui or you can sit back, relax, and simply enjoy your day in paradise. (B)
Day 7 – Maui – Transfer – Free Day
This morning you transfer to the airport for a short flight to beautiful Maui for a three night stay. Maui is the 2nd Largest of the Hawaiian Islands and locals say “Maui no ka oi” — it’s the best, the most, the top of the heap. It has a surplus of natural splendor with miles of perfect beaches, lush green valleys, volcanic landscapes, plus fascinating history in the whaling town of Lahaina. It’s beauty, rich culture and warm hospitality have helped to make it Hawaii’s second most popular island.
Today is free time to enjoy optional tours, shopping in Lahaina or beach time. At the end of the day you enjoy a three course dinner at the Royal Lahaina Resort as the sun drops off into the Pacific. (B,D)
Day 8 – Kahului, Maui – Haleakala House of the Sun Tour – Luau Dinner
This morning, you have a private tour titled,”Haleakala The House of the Sun.” You travel past sugar-cane fields, through Hawaiian cowboy country (Paniolo), up beyond the protea farms of Kula, then above the tree line to where cacti and rare Hawaiian silver swords grow and finally to very crest of Haleakala at over 10,000 feet. In Hawaiian folklore the crater at the summit of Haleakalā was home to the grandmother of the demigod Maui, legend has it that she helped him capture the sun and force it to slow its journey across the sky in order to lengthen the day. It is a view to behold.
This evening your farewell dinner is an authentic Hawaiian Luau. A grand celebration of food, entertainment and Polynesian culture at sunset. Luau tradition begins with a kalua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), with haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (Hawaiian taro starch). Then under the stars you witness a live musical performance of the hula – it can tell stories of Kauai, or showcase dances from across Polynesia, like the frenetic Tahitian dance or the thrilling Samoan fire-knife dance. Day 9 – Maui – Free Day
This is your last day to Hang Loose in Hawaii. So relax and enjoy the tropical vistas and don’t forget to enjoy an ice cold Mai Tai. (B)
Day 10 – Iao Valley – Departure Day
Your trip ends. On the way to the airport you will visit the Iao Valley where bright green Iao Needle shoots up from the ground and tropical plants, waterfalls and swimming holes accentuate a rain forest. Finally you bid Aloha and Mahalo to the Islands as you arrive at the Airport and begin a safe journey home. (B)
