Our private viewing area, courtyard or esplanade is a paved piece of land shaded by a bridge on the Jeffersonville shore of the Ohio River, and is arguably the best viewpoint for both the airshow starting at 2:30pm, and the fireworks at 9:30pm. You will have tables and chairs without a crowd, From 2:30pm-9:00pm is one of America’s Top Air Shows with more than 30 fly-overs. You’ll see units such as the U S Army Golden Knights & The Canadian Harvards, WWII B-25s, EC-3 AWACS, F-16 Vipers, F-18 Hornets, C-17 Cargo Planes, Helicopter Squadrons and much more. Plus you enjoy the narrative and historical commentary piped in by radio to explain all the history and pageantry in the show. All from your comfortable seats in our private secured location while 600,000 suffer the atmosphere of Standing Room Only in Louisville.
Just a sample of what you will see.
Dinner will be served at approximately 6:00 pm. It will be a delicious buffet catered by a local restaurant that includes dessert, plus coffee, tea and water. It’s a civilized setting amidst the festival madness where you feel as though the show is a private event for you alone.
Then at 9:30 pm, the Thunder Fireworks begin. This is the nation’s largest annual fireworks display, and again you have the best seats in town. In its 29th year, serving as the kick-off event for Kentucky Derby Festival, it’s the kind of show you have to see to believe. It’s almost magical, as the producers pack 60 tons of firepower into 28 minutes. It’s a heart stopping, eye-popping show filled with a soundtrack where everyone will be able to related to a couple of the songs. It’s the kind of show you have to see to believe, it’s the kind of show that needs to be felt and heard. When you are here in person, you can FEEL the fireworks pounding in your chest and the concrete vibrate underneath your feet.
It’s Thunder, Lightning & Great Balls of Fire. (B,D)
