Day 1 – Your Gateway to The New River Gorge is Beckley, WV, where you make a late afternoon visit to Tamarack, The Craft Center of West Virginia. You’ll have time to explore displays of art, craft and West Virginia made products and find just the right souvenirs to take home. You will also have a voucher for dinner at The Tamarack Food Court, operated by the luxury Greenbrier Resort we know you will find a wonderful and indulgent meal to satisfy you for the night.  (D)

Day 2 – This day begins with a visit to Beckley Exhibition Coal and Mountain Homestead. This is a very interesting historical attraction where you actually have a chance to ride a ‘man-trip’ car into a deep mine and discuss coal mining with who actually worked in them. After the mine tour you’ll have time to visit the Coal Camp. This is a community of historic buildings from the turn-of-the20th Century that include The Superintendents House, a Miners home, the Church, Company Store and more.

In addition to mining history you will also find a Mountain Homestead that provides you an insight into the lives of Appalachian families who lived in these mountains and raised families in an agrarian society prior to the Industrial Revolution.

Next your afternoon is pent at Adventures on the Gorge. This is a chance to satisfy your Wild Side there are many different adventure activities available to you here on campus. These include Whitewater Rafting (both mild and wild), Zip Lines, Mountain Bikes and Hikes, Horseback Riding, Rock Climbing Rappelling, the New River BridgeWalk, Nature Walks or simply an afternoon sunning at the Pool while the others work on adventurous stories for you. (Admissions are not included as activity prices vary.)

Your Dinner this evening is on this same adventure campus, a Gourmet Buffet followed by an evening campfire and a guitar player. (B,D)

Day 3 – This day is just as exciting as yesterday. First visit is the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, some people say this is the most Haunted Building in the State, and it is certainly the largest. Your tour guide will discuss the differences in Mental Health Care from the 1860’s to today. You’ll walk the halls and grounds of what is currently the largest Historical Building Renovation in America.

Your afternoon features a visit to Hawks Nest State Park on the Rim of the New River Gorge. Here you ride the aerial tram to the bottom of the New River Gorge Canyon and climb aboard “Miss M. Rocks”, a 21 foot covered Jetboat. With a combination of speed and power your pilot will conquer the currents of the New River driving you to a point beneath the world’s second longest single arch steel bridge. It towers 876 feet above you, it’s great for photo.

After the Jet Boat Ride you enjoy a Farewell, Sunset Dinner in the Lodge Dining Room high above the River.  (B,D)
